About

In 1949, only 2 years after being converted into, what we now know as Tullibardine Distillery, from the original brewery buildings, the first spirit was produced. This led to a cycle of owner changes of the distillery as it was bought in 1953 by Brody Helpburn and followed by being purchased by Invergordon Distillers in 1971 .The distillery was mothballed in 1995 by then owner Whyte & Mackay.
In 2003, it was sold to Tullibardine Distillery Ltd, who resumed production. In 2011, the distillery was sold to the French firm Picard Vins & Spiritueux. This firm in 2013 created an entity for the spirits named Terroirs Distillers.

Still stuck in the traditional mindset, Tullibardine Distillery rejects as many modern technologies as possible in their production. The distillery currently works with 9 stainless steel washbacks with fermentation lasting a minimum of 52 hours.

Tullibardine distillery currently has 4 stills, which is 2 more than the 2 stills used prior to 1973. The wash stills hold 21,500 litres in capacity and the spirits stills hold 16,200 litres in capacity. The number of warehouses at Tullibardine distillery has dwindled. There are currently some bonded warehouses on site. However, some of them were transformed into sales rooms for the shopping centre of Blackford, where the distillery is located. The distillery is currently in the process of recreating warehouses for additional space to mature its casks.

The distillery produces several types of single malt whisky, including "Aged Oak Edition Single Malt Whisky" and "Sherry Finish Malt Whisky", and related liqueurs. There was a massive revamp of their whisky range in 2013; Tullibardine Sovereign, Sauternes, Sherry and Burgundy, and Malts with no age, were established. Tullibardine created a new series called Custodian Collection where the first edition was a 60-year-old whisky that had been distilled only 3 years after they started distilling spirits.
